I went to the ‘Fuji SuperSix Ignited Minds‘ photography exhibition yesterday. The place was empty when I went there. The photographs were good but the lighting in the exhibition was average. My personal favourite photographers were Daniel Yin Lea Hsiung and Syed Azher Qayoom. The others were good too, but these two were excellent. I took my own time admiring the photographs since noone else was present there.
Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled its new form of computing, Microsoft Surface where everyone can use the computer through the sense of touch. It will not feature a touch screen but rather have a projector and camera coordinated with each other. Sounds exciting, looking forward to more news about this. Read more here.

Early yesterday morning, I went to Necklace Road for the first official meeting of the Hyderabad Photography Club. I met new people and we discussed about Photography.
At noon, we played at ‘Frag’. Its like Webworld but has fewer games, on LCD monitors but faster computers and better chairs. We mostly played Far Cry with some kids who were already playing there. It was amazing fun and we laughed like crazy.
While returing home from there, we took a detour and went to a friend’s house and met lots of people who we hadnt seen in a really long time and chatted with each other. Overall, yesterday was fun.

I’m finally running Windows Vista on Dual Boot with Windows XP. I partitioned 100Gb from my 500Gb Harddisk for Vista and installed as a separate OS since you cannot upgrade from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Home Premium.
Anyways, I’m on Vista right now, I’m still getting used to whole look and feel of it. I’m also transferring my settings, drivers and programs from XP so it might take a while until I’m completely used to it.
The things I like about it are -
- When I log into Vista, the partition on which its installed becomes ‘C Drive’ and when I log into XP, the partition on which XP installed becomes ‘C Drive’. Pretty cool.
- I can resize the partitions dynamically without affecting the data in them. This is amazingly useful.
- The eye candy. The whole interface is ‘fancy’ and a good change from XP.
- The Media Centre. Its pretty much like Windows XP MCE but integrated into the OS.
- All my programs are working perfectly and are completely devoid of problems.
One thing which I hate is the fact that I’m not able to access my external Harddisk. Although Vista detects its presence, its not able to read the contents but I’m sure I’ll be figure that out soon.
Overall, I’m satisfied with it for now. I’ll still have to use it to its full potential before I can rate it properly.

I found out about this great mod for Half Life 2 a few days ago which allows you to play Half Life 2 with your Wiimote and Nunchuck. You also require a Sensor Bar so you should either place your Wii next to your PC or you can make your own. Once you download the mod, its installs directly into Steam and does a few updates. You can install it for Half Life 2, Episode One and Lost Coast too. It’s displayed as separate games on the Steam Games list and requires to be connected to the internet to launch.
To connect your Wiimote to your computer, you’ll need a Bluetooth dongle and will have to discover it and set it as a ‘Human Interface Device’. Once thats done, let the bluetooth software run and launch the game.
Once launched, you are supposed to point your Wiimote at the the Sensor Bar and connect the Nunchuck and wait for it to recognise all of them. This will take a few minutes and once its over, the original Half Life 2 menu will fade in on the left. You can use your Wiimote to point and click at the menu in the centre but you will have to use the mouse for the other menus. I would suggest that you check the key mapping at first located under ‘WiiMote’, you will need to use the mouse for this. Once you’ve gone through the options, you can click on ‘New Game’ and select any level from the game. There’s also a tutorial mode available but it isnt necessary to play it, I feel that you can directly play the game and familiarize yourself with the controls.
It is recommended that you set yourself 3 feet from the screen but I felt that 4 - 5 feet was optimum for me, but it depends on the distance between your sensors(if you’ve made a custom sensor). The gameplay was amazing! The integration is perfect and ist hard to believe that the game wasnt made for use with the Wiimote. You can wave the nunchuck to swing the crowbar use the + and - keys to scroll through the weapons. The aiming system is near perfect with the Infrared pointers and is definitely a new experience. The joystick on the Nunchuck is used to move and strafe. The controls are completely customizable and you can set it according to your preferences.
I enjoyed playing it but the mod has room for improvement in certain aspects of the controls. Its is a great mod and the mod makers have done a great job. A must download for anyone who owns Half Life 2 and a Wii.

Went out for a friend’s birthday today, food was good. Then hung around with a few other friends just talking and doing timepass.
And at an international forum I usually post, we all took a Internet Speed Test just for the fun of it and I was totally disappointed at my internet speed, here are a few of the speeds………

And finally mine,

If I had to get those speed in India, I would probably have to give up my entire family fortune just to use it for a month. Infact, it would be cheaper to fly to US, use the internet there and come back here rather than try and get those speeds here.

I wasn’t too anxious to view my results, infact I had been more anxious to view the GTA 4 Trailer when it came out. Anyways, although I was expecting them at 3 PM, we found out a link to view the results at 2:15 itself. I was surprised at the results both positively and negatively, I got 94 in accounts and er…….low marks in Maths. Now I cant win an academic prize from school ever again……Anyways, now the past is over, its time to look forward towards a brighter future for all of us………

Almost everyone I knew was telling me that our 12th ISC Exam results would be out today. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, they werent released today and nobody has any idea of when they will be out. We can only hope that they are out on Monday.
Today, at approximately 1:30 in the afternoon, there was a tragic bomb blast close to the Charminar where thousands of people were having there Friday prayers. It is a very sad day for all the citizens of Hyderabad and I feel sorry for those who have been wounded and those who have lost their lives due to this cowardly act of terrorism.
