The Debates Shield

Time: Probably around 3PM

Location: Assembly Hall

Condition: Anxious

The Final Round of the Interhouse senior debates had just finished and I was sitting next to Suren Sultania biting my nails while my heart raced. I had done my best and left the results to god. My palms were sweating like never before and has turned cold. The judges were counting the scores about 5m away from us and we were trying to catch a word or two which might give us a clue on the results. We waited for the decisive moment. Then, after what seemed like an eternity, Mrs. Amrutha Chandra took the mike and started announcing the results. Time seemed to slow down as she read out the house positions, “In 2nd place, Nagarjuna with 153 points and in first place, Nalanda with 180 points.” I was soo happy I thought I’d cry. After, beating Nagarjuna by almost 30 points, we had just won the Debates Shield. Individually, Suren had come first and I, second. I can never thank Suren enough. Words couldn’t express my joy as I ran towards the front field where the Chin Ups were taking place. I quickly changed and did 3 chin ups. I probably could have done more, but with the excitement of winning the debates shield I felt I could pull no more. As the other houses continued with their chin ups, I realized that I had just got 5 points for my house, when Vikram comes and tells me that the Debates Shield is not 5 but 10 points!! The day was just getting better and better. Then came the sudden downpour of rain which caught all of us unawares, and after taking shade under a tree, the Chin Ups continued and quite soon, Mr.Emmanuel read out the results and Nalanda had once again proved it strength after coming first in the Chin Ups!!! The rain started again. I turned around and looked at school as rain drops splattered my face. School had never looked so beautiful……..

Kabbadi, kabbadi and Firefox 2

School was practically dead yesterday. We had a handful of people in the morning and by the end of the day, only 2 people remained in 12C, Fatik and me. Anyways, we had lunch at RV with Vikram and Naveen, and since I was there for the first time, it was new experience and I like food there too.

We had the Kabbadi matches in the evening and boy, they were fun! Nalanda lost both the matches and I played one match only. Vijaynagar beat us although they had only 5 people versus 7 of us. Fatik was probably the happiest person yesterday, with Vijaynagar’s first senior victory. Honestly, I never thought Kabbadi would be as fun as it was. Turns out rolling in the sand and grabbing other people is a great game. True, we didn’t win but I had a helluva time.

I experimented in some Video Editing today but I couldn’t do much since I had other stuff to do. I installed Firefox 2 yesterday and I fell in love with it the moment I first started it. It sports a new look, spell check, newer way of organizing tabs, and whole load of features. Download it here

All the fun at school

School was amazingly fun today. We had the first 3 periods free. Then Fatik and me found a dead bat which had been electrocuted hanging from the electric wires which looked amazingly mystifiying. We went and called Daman Patel, Abhinav Ram Reddy and Zafar Khan from class and went back to the scene. After clicking a couple of pictures, we started throwing stones at it the bloody thing wouldnt fall down. We had thrown around 50+ stones out of which only 6 hit, but they hit good and got the bat down. We cursed it for sometime taking out our anger by throwing some more stones at it and went back to class realizing how jobless we had been for the past 2 periods.

Lunch was great today. ;) . And we have school tomorrow, but I doubt that anyone will come, not even the teachers.

All the crap at school

School has certainly changed over the years. This is probably the first heated argument I had with another fellow student (who I do no wish to name). The argument was basically over the debates and ended much more loud than I thought it would end up. Well, the debates got postponed and the topic got changed thanks to one certain lazy induvidual. I never have anything personal against Nagarjuna…..until today….and its limited to just one person. Anyways, let bygones be bygones and I’m all cool about the whole event now….well almost….

Id Mubarak!

Today is Id-Ul-Fitr and marks the end of the month of Ramzan. Id Mubarak to everyone!

I downloaded Codename Gordon today, its a 2D version of Half Life. Its kinda fun but gets boring quickly. Its a free download via Steam. Get it if you want but its just a toned down 2D side-scroller version of Half Life.

Nothing much happened today, today was a holiday so I just lazed around…….

Linger

Linger by The Cranberries is my latest addiction. Its the only song I’ve listened since yesterday. I must have played atleast a 100 times. Its a great song, my addiction started after listening to it in ‘Click’.

Since, Id is tomorrow, our school has decided to give us a holiday tomorrow also so thats another day of fun.

I played Half life 2 Lost Coast today and its just amazing. The graphics are completly life-like and the HDR effects are spectacular. Its a short level though..finished it quickly…wish it was longer…

Click, Quiz and Iftar

I watched ‘Click‘ day before yesterday. Great movie. If you expect only comedy in the movie then you might be a little disappointed becuase it has some emotional parts too. It shows you about the things in life that really matter and the movie did affect me to an extent. The visual effect are good with seamless transistions and almost no contiunity errors. It gets 8.5/10. Oh, and Kate Beckinsale looks hot in the movie. ;)

We had the final round of the Interhouse Juniors Quiz yesterday and quite spectacularly, Nalanda came 2nd with 17 points. Fatik was probably the happiest person around yesterday after Vijaynagar came 1st with 39 points beating everyone else by a huge margin. Taxila and Nagarjuna (which happens to be the Quiz Captains house) tied for last place. And sports day practice also started yesterday.
We had an Iftar Meal in Pizza Hut and I ate like there was no tomorrow. The place was quite crowded, a lot of people who would love to have an unlimited meal.
Today is a holiday although Id is tomorrow. Hehe…….

Happy Diwali!

Yesterday was Diwali, the festival of lights. Diwali is mainly associated with Fireworks and for the past 2 days, the city went wild with crackers. And I went wild with my camera. All the pictures I took can be viewed in the ‘Fireworks‘ sub-section. Feedback invited on the pictures.

I’ve also installed a hit counter from here. Its an excellent counter and I personally recommend it for WP users.

UPDATE: I’ve added a Fireworks Wallpaper from the pictures I took.

Ravenholm and XMen 3

Chapter 6 - ‘We dont go to Ravenholm”. - Half Life 2

image_31047.jpg

After reading some stuff I was kinda scared to play this level as it was supposed to be Zombie Infested and stuff like that. I finally got to playing it today morning and I must say that it wasnt scary at all. Infact, it was lots of fun. Slicing through the zombies with the Saw Blades and sending them in flames with the gas canisters was very entertaining. The Gravity Gun is the best weapon ever!! The Havok Physics engine worked wonders with the extremly realistic ragdoll models of the zombies. I finished in the evening and I’m actually looking forward to slicing more zombies.

I watched XMen 3: The Last Stand today and honestly, it wasnt as good as I expected it to be. New characters were introduced. Old characters died. The visual effects were superb though. It didnt have much of a solid storyline but the graphics made up for that. It gets 7.5/10.
